Based on the West Coast, The Benvenue Fortepiano Trio consists of Grammy nominated British baroque violinist Monica Huggett (Juilliard, MD Ireland Baroque, MD Portland Baroque), American cellist Tanya Tomkins and American pianoforte specialist Eric Zivian. Also part of the Benvenue set up - a beautifully crafted 1841 Viennese fortepiano which the ensemble use wherever possible.

There are currently two Benvenue CDs available on the Avie label featuring recordings of Mendelssohn Piano Trios performed on period instruments. Further recordings of Mendelssohn, Schubert and Schumann are planned for the next couple of years.

Their most recent recording, released on February 9th 2010, is now availble on Amazon.com and is already getting great customer reviews: These are first-rate performances in themselves, and the opportunity to hear these delightful trios on something approaching the instruments Mendelssohn himself would have heard is not to be passed up.

The Benvenue Fortepiano Trio will be touring in the first half of 2011 with a flexible program of Mendelssohn Sonatas and Trios.

A current sample concert programme includes Mendelssohn's Sonata for Cello and Fortepiano No. 2 in D Major, Op. 58; selections from “Lieder Ohne Worte” for solo fortepiano; and Trio No. 2 in C Minor, Op. 66.
